Curcumin is relatively insoluble in water. When curcumin is orally ingested, most of it is excreted without being absorbed from the small intestine.
To obtain the maximum effects of curcumin, improving its systemic absorption is the most important issue.

1. The absorptivity was markedly improved compared to conventional curcumin.
Results from animal experiments
Blood curcumin levels were measured at 1-24 hours after oral administration of THERACURMIN CR-011L or curcumin (bulk powder) to rats at 50 mg (curcumin)/kg. The results showed 30 times higher blood levels for THERACURMIN CR-011L.
When THERACURMIN CR-011L was administered at 1.5 mg (curcumin)/kg, and curcumin bulk powder at 50 mg/kg, the blood level for THERACURMIN CR-011L was equal to or higher than that for the curcumin bulk powder.
Safety study
- Acute oral toxicity test:
No toxicity was found after administration of 2,000 mg/kg of curcumin. - Mutagenicity test: Negative

Results of a clinical study
In this study, seven healthy adult men and women ingested a single dose (30 mg) of curcumin bulk powder or THERACURMIN CR-011L. Then blood was collected over time at 1-6 hours after ingestion to determine blood curcumin levels.

THERACURMIN CR-011L was stable in a light irradiation test.
THERACURMIN CR-011L is compatible with transparent containers, such as PET bottles.
Stable when exposed to heat
THERACURMIN CR-011L was stable in a heat resistance test at 95oC and 120oC; no change was noted in the residual ratio of curcumin.
THERACURMIN CR-011L can be used under pasteurization conditions for beverages and food.
